Abstract
A methodology for the efficient calculation of S-parameters as well as far-fields of symmetrical multi-port antennas is shown. The methodology exploits the symmetry of the antenna structure to determine the scattering matrix as well as far-fields of the antenna with attached feeding network. Using this procedure, only ports within the fundamental region have to be excited. This way, a reduction of the simulation time corresponding to the group order of the symmetry group of the antenna is achieved. Further, the coupling of the antenna ports can be predicted using a cascaded scattering matrix approach.
