Abstract

In an increasingly turbulent environment marked by the growing significance of logistic factors enterprises today are confronted with the challenge of aligning available capacities with the capacities required using targeted measures. Within the frame of a research project conducted at the Leibniz University of Hanover's Institute of Production Systems and Logistics (Germany) the impact of measures for making capacities more flexible and for smoothing the load on the behavior of a logistic system should be universally described and quantified. Moreover the aim is to extend the Logistic Operating Curves Theory developed by Nyhuis and at the same time increase the precision of the information gained from it in order to eliminate the currently required model evaluation within the context of a software supported implementation of the Logistic Operating Curves Theory.
