Drawing tower for special glass fibres

This is a fibre drawing tower for drawing special glass fibres with a draw length of 10 m. Preforms based on high-purity quartz glass with a diameter of 10-50 mm and a length of 1.5 m can be processed. At pulling speeds of 0.1 to 400 m/min (typ. 10 m/min), bare fibre or rod diameters of 80 µm to 10 mm can be produced. The preform can be pressurised with positive or negative pressure through two independent pressure channels, so that air structures can be obtained in a correspondingly prefabricated preform. Various coating materials can be applied to protect the bare fibre (acrylates, silicone, polyimide).
