Bohr versus Einstein

Research output: Contribution to journalConference articleResearchpeer review

Abstract

Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein were extraordinarily famous physicists who feuded in the early days of quantum mechanics. Their debate was really a clash between two opposing conceptions of the foundations of quantum mechanics. These views were also debated by many other people. So it is not so much their debate as a clash of views of which they were the most prominent proponents. This paper will begin by introducing the opponents and then give an overview of the events and the opposing standpoints, roughly characterised as “local realism” and “operationalism”. It will then follow the course of the debate in three rounds.
