title = "Possibilities and limits of diagnostic methods for power transformers in service",
abstract = "The detection of possible faults in an early state is of elementary interest to operators of transformers in order to avoid unplanned outages. Such unplanned failures lead to the interruption of energy supply or even loss of production. Therefore, a large number of diagnostic methods are available such as oil analysis and electrical measurements up to high-voltage tests on site. For this reason, it is necessary for operators to select the meaningful diagnostic procedures in each case. In this contribution investigation are discussed concerning the question which diagnostic procedures or which combination of procedures can be used to detect faults reliable. This was done based on a large population of transformers in service.",
