Abstract
Solid-state recycling (SSR) is an energy-efficient alternative to remelting aluminum chips. Chips of EN AW-6082 and EN AW-7075 are consolidated by cold compaction, multi-directional forging and subsequent forging. Density, microstructure and tensile strength indicate properties close to bulk reference material, especially for EN AW-7075.
