Abstract

Penning-trap experiments on single protons or antiprotons have proven to be an excellent tool to test the fundamental CPT symmetry in the baryonic sector. Here we discuss experimental prospects to cool single 9Be+ ions to their motional ground state by using laser cooling in order to manipulate single protons or antiprotons for CPT experiments in Penning traps.
